It nourishes the hair and prevents breakage. It also acts as a great moisturiser and leaves your hair looking shiny and soft.
A simple way is to use organic virgin coconut oil or a coconut oil hair mask once a week. Add a few drops of coconut or jojoba oil to your regular conditioner and leave it on for a few minutes. Wash it away with cold water and a gentle shampoo. Apply a small amount of olive oil on the palms of your hands and spread evenly through your damp hair. Gently massage the oil into your scalp and leave it on for a few minutes before washing it off with cool water.
Because of the change in climate (warmer climate during summer), many people notice that their hair becomes oily faster and they develop dandruff. The best way to treat this is to follow a good hair care routine, such as washing your hair every day with a clarifying shampoo to get rid of any residue product buildup and dry out your curls, and using a leave-in conditioner to prevent itchiness after rinsing the shampoo out. If the itchiness continues, you can add a few drops of lavender oil to your shampoo, which helps soothe an itchy scalp. Additionally, you can opt for using a milder shampoo or an apple cider vinegar rinse to help combat an itchy scalp. Warm compresses can also help soothe the scalp.
An extreme example would be a sunburn that results in one’s hair falling out completely and leaving only a clump of blackened skin behind. Sunlight can also irritate the skin and cause itching and rashes, which can result in hair loss if the hair is pulled out in frustration when you are trying to get rid of the irritation. Light from the sun can also damage the hair shaft, causing it to become dry and brittle and eventually break off altogether. Therefore, it is essential to protect sensitive hair from sun exposure by using sun blocks, hats, scarves, etc. and to avoid the sun during the hottest part of the day when it is at its peak intensity.
Hair products that are loaded with harsh chemicals have the potential to damage sensitive hair. Since these products contain ingredients that can damage the hair by stripping it of its natural oils and causing excessive dryness, they can actually lead to more hair fall and split ends in the long run if regularly used. Furthermore, chemical-laden products like perms, dyes, etc. are also known to cause damage to hair as they are highly alkaline in nature and therefore have a tendency to denature proteins, which makes hair weak and less resistant to breakage. Hair care products with organic ingredients are recommended for sensitive skin as they are less likely to cause adverse reactions and are gentler on the hair as well.
