Every year, fashion-forward gowns and frocks dominate the runway. But aside from what the models are wearing there is another major side highlight to all of these much awaited fashion weeks in New York, London, Paris and Milan – the hair and beauty trends. We’ve already previously rounded up our favorite trends from the New York Fashion Week 2015 but we are back to round up some of the best from London, Milan and Paris! Are you ready to swoon?
Au Naturel
The makeup at Dolce & Gabbana’s fashion shows were a tribute to Italy – makeup artist Pat McGrath opted for a soft and romantic look that will complement the D&G collection. Pink lips were used on the models although the shade of pink applied varies according to each girl’s natural skin tone. To add some more vibrancy to this au naturel look, the models also sported glowing skin and a subtle winged eyeliner.
The models at Versace were also following the same trend that was started for by Dolce & Gabbana at the London Fashion Week 2015. However, these models opted for a strong and sculpted beauty with the use of clever contouring and highlighting. It was truly a natural affair that showcased the natural beauty of each model.
Artist Charlotte Tilbury was tasked to create the look for the models at Alberta Ferretti show at London Fashion Week 2015. She used warm tones on the models’ skin to create that desert goddess kind of look. They used sculpting and metallic tones for the base so that the skin looks luminous. False eyelashes were added into the mix to exaggerate that fluttering effect to the eyes.
Simplicity at its best at the Versus show. Makeup artist Tom Pecheux opted for dewy but natural looking skin for the models.
Tom Pecheux also took the helm at the Ralph Lauren fashion show. Again, like the Versus Versace show, the models featured groom and polished beauty that were au naturel.
Undone Hair
The hair sported by models at the Dolce & Gabbana show were very simplistic but chic. Hairstylist Guido Palau tied the hair into ballerina buns while leaving a few strands hanging by the side of the face for that effortless vibe.
The models rocked the sexy, loose and dishevelled waves at the Versus fashion show that complemented the dewy skin and natural makeup look.
To complement the natural sunkissed beauty of the model (also a creation of Pat McGrath) the models at Tommy Hilfiger opted for loose undone hair with a center part.
At the Victoria Beckham show, the models sported a very simplistic look. The hair was gently waved and tucked behind the ears.
Eye Makeup Trends
At Emilio Pucci, it was all about the 90’s style and makeup artist Lucia Pieroni drew the eyeliner on the waterline. The makeup used on the skin was also kept clean-looking and it does not seem like the models wear any makeup at all – except for the defined use of eyeliner.
The models at Paul Costelloe show at London Fashion Week were all about the eye makeup. The models sported dark and deep smokey eyes and super defined winged eyeliner. The strong eye makeup is complented with soft pinkish nude lips.
Also opting for that strong and bold makeup look? The models at Thomas Wylde show at the New York Fashion Week. To create that balance, the models also wore nude lips on the runway.
Braids for Days
Braids were a hit during the fashion weeks this year. One example is the cleverly twisted braid at the JW Anderson show.
The models at the Proenza Schouler fashion show styled their hair in a single, straight plait. This look was created by expert hairstylist Anthony Turner.
The models at the Paul Costelloe show also worn braids that were paired with a huge bouffant on the crown and then formed into a ponytail before being braided to the tip.
At the Alice + Olivia show, it was all about the hair. The runway show featured a Wild West theme and the models’ looks were consistent with their theme with the hairstyling. The models wore perfectly teased ponytails with braided accents. This look was created by Marshall Lin.
Hair Accessories
The use of accessories were also a common theme in a few fashion shows at the runways of London, New York, Paris or Milan. Here are some of our favourites…
