Skin tanning is the practice of using a tanning bed and other methods to produce a brown or golden hue on the skin. Tanning beds are devices that use lamps to create a tan.
The skin responds to ultraviolet radiation by generating melanin, a pigment that gives the skin its colour and protects it from damage. In humans, exposure to the sun causes melanocytes to darken the skin and produce a natural tan. Sun exposure is also linked to a number of health problems, such as skin cancer and premature ageing of the skin. Most people try to avoid sun exposure because it can cause sunburn, which can be painful and cause temporary skin damage. Having tanned skin has many benefits, such as making you feel more attractive and giving you more confidence.
There are three main ways to fake a tan: tanning beds, self-tanning lotions, and spray tans. Self-tanning lotions have ingredients that make skin cells change colour in the same way that sunlight does. This gives the skin a tanned look. Spray tans use a mist with bronzers in it that is sprayed on the skin to get the look you want. Tan-through swimwear can help people achieve a bronzy look without having to spend time in the sun or use an airbrush gun to apply makeup.
There are several advantages to having a tan, including the following:
-Increased sense of attractiveness & confidence
-Increased Vitamin D production
An improvement in skin tone UV protection
Heart disease risk is decreased.
Due to excessive UV exposure from indoor tanning, some people may be at an increased risk of developing skin cancer, though this risk may be decreased by using sunscreen while indoor tanning. However, the majority of medical professionals concur that people who do not regularly expose their skin to sunlight have a higher risk of developing melanoma and other skin cancers.
The type of skin the person has and the type of tanner they used are two variables that affect how long a tan lasts. Darker skin tones are better able to absorb UV radiation, so tans generally last longer on darker skin tones than on lighter ones. While a self-tanner only lasts a few hours, a spray tan will last for several days. Using sunscreen every day after your tanning session is the best way to extend the effects of a tan.
Melanoma – the most common form of skin cancer, caused by chronic exposure to UV rays from the sun and/or artificial tanning devices.
Photofacial Pigmentation – occurs when too much sun causes permanent colour changes in skin tissue; patients may have to periodically have treatment to remove pigmentation from affected areas of the skin.
Eye disorders – sunburn can cause damage to the retina, leading to retinal detachment and vision loss; this is more common in patients with cataracts, especially those with defective lens caps.
