Hair Care Cleaning Tips
- Always use a good quality hair shampoo and conditioner that is specially formulated for synthetic hair.
- Gently brush hair with a SHOWPONY Loop Brush to remove all tangles prior to washing.
- Fill a basin of cold water and stroke shampoo gently into the hair until lathered. DO NOT rub or twist SHOWPONY Hair Extensions during the shampoo process.
- Rinse SHOWPONY Hair Extensions under cold water, making sure you remove all shampoo.
- Once thoroughly rinsed, stroke a small amount of conditioner into the hair and leave in the hair for 5 minutes, then rinse the hair under cold water to remove the conditioner.
- Dry SHOWPONY Hair Extensions gently with a towel and blow dry on low heat. Remember, you can straighten or curl SHOWPONY Heat Resistant Hair Extensions up to 180 degrees Celsius.
- Best stored in SHOWPONY Hair Extensions packaging supplied, with clips closed to avoid tangling.
Hair Extension Maintenance Tips
- Avoid chlorinated water and salt water (ocean). If you choose to swim you need to keep your hair out of the water & wash your hair with a de-chlorinating shampoo & conditioner (sulphate free). It is also recommended to always wear a leave in protective cream whilst in water. You may compromise your hair extensions long-term wear if the hair has been exposed to chlorine and salt water.
- Hair needs to be protected & moisturised with products that do not coat the hair or weigh the hair down.
- Suitable products include those that offer solar protection and thermal ranges for those who iron or curl their hair frequently. Make sure you have regular salon visits to ensure your hair extensions are in good condition.
- Use an appropriate hair extension brush such as the Showpony Detangler brush. This will have less impact on the hair and should be used prior to shampoo as it lifts and loosens dead skin cells, dirt, styling products, stimulates blood circulation, releases knots and makes it easier to shampoo. Start brushing from the ends- not roots to ends as you may cause more tangles.
- Do not pull aggressively at hair or apply force to the hair. A gentle approach is recommended at all times for you will not only compromise the life of your hair extensions you will also compromise your own natural hair.
- When using accessories in your hair apply with care. Use a low tension and metal free hair ties.
